TREE
OF LIFE
Knotty Western Red Cedar is the ultimate environmentally conscious building material. It requires significantly less energy to produce than man-made alternatives and is biodegradeable. Cedar has the ability to resist the harsh outdoor elements without the need for toxic chemical treatments. When you take into consideration that cedar is 40 - 50% less expensive than composite or plastic materials, it is not only a natural choice, but an economical one too.
The Knotty Western Red Cedar is common to the Pacific Northwest coastal and interior rainforests of British Columbia, Canada. Generally a large tree, up to 60 metres tall when mature and 2.5 metres in diameter.
For every tree harvested, three are replanted to ensure our forests will exist in perpetuity. The fact is, there are more forests in North America today than there were 100 years ago. These young forests are excellent carbon sinks. They also release oxygen back into the atmosphere contributing to a healthier and cleaner environment.
Make the right choice for your environment, build green with Knotty Western Red Cedar the 'Tree of Life'.
Canada is a world leader in the development and implementation of independent, third party forest certification programs. Most of British Columbia's major forest companies have certified ISO 14001 international environmental standards and meet criteria set down by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). British Columbia has 5.3 million hectares (13.1 million acres) of forest certified under the Canadian Standards Association.
The CSA evaluates forest practices and performance using internationally recognized criteria that are adapted to local conditions through a transparent public participation process. This includes a product label and a chain of custody. Additional information can be found at:
